RED EYE / 10.07.10

NYC It was the last days of summer when Stefan Blomquist summoned us to his studio in Williamsburg-Brooklyn for a late night shoot with up and coming Red Models, Martin Rogal & Alex Wolf. Martin, 21, hails from Poland and aspires to be an architect and artist. He was constantly told he should model, so one day he walked into Red's offices and was signed on the spot. Alex, 19, comes to New York from Munich and is a prolific painter and activist. He hasn’t set his sights on exactly what he wants to do with the rest of his life but for now – he’s content discovering NYC, painting, chilling with friends and jamming to Taio Cruz on his Ipod. Though it was a late shoot, both guys had energy and enthusiasm to spare. Even Beans couldn’t help getting caught up in the mix!

Fashion Week Was One Big Blur / 09.21.10

Fashion Week in New York proved to be one of the best in quite some time and we're not talking about the clothes. There were top models, a few top celebs and an unusual amount of top musical acts, all under a new big top at Lincoln Center.  Though the focus was fashion, rock stars and pop stars stole the show.

Iggy Pop & Coutney Love both put on a show at the new Don Hill where we were greeted by uber photographer Terry Richardson. Also on hand were Adrian Grenier, Guy O’seary, our favorite girl about town Susan Anton and the always pleasurable Michael Pitt.

Other super star acts around town included special guest DJ Kim Ann Foxman from Hercules and Love Affair at the Prada store, The Strokes at Tommy Hilfiger, Kayne’s impromptu bar top performance at the reopening of the Boom Boom Room, Goldfrapp at Victor & Rolf and the often imitated never duplicated, Roisin Murphy’s dj set and performance at W's Global Glam Event at Lincoln Center. Now that really blew us away! We went to a few good shows where we ran into the usual suspects but we soon came to realize that after-parties and great music proved to be the right way to go this season. Nothing says Fashion Week better than a night of party-hopping fueled by delicious, crystal clear, free, sponsored vodka! Thinking back on it now, it’s all one big blur. Here are a few shots that we managed to salvage before our camera took a swim at Le Bain.

Nick Magliato, September 2010

Photographed by Marko Kalfa exclusively for Bel Volto, September 2010.

Welcome to the premier issue of Bel Volto! Bel Volto is an online photo magazine dedicated to shining a spotlight on only the freshest faces and untapped talent from the streets of NYC and beyond.

Bel Volto firmly believes that sometimes a face is more than just a face. Case in point...Nick Magliato. We found young Nick tending bar at some trendy downtown hotspot and soon realized he was serving up a lot more than just a big glass of pretty. Nick is a super-talented singer/songwriter/musician from NYC, comes from a big Italian family, and he just happens to make a really mean Bloody Mary. He's got this killer, mega-watt smile that can light up a building and as luck would have it, he's a natural in front of the camera as evident in our premier photo shoot. We paired Nick with photographer Marko Kalfa and we couldn't have been more thrilled with the results! You can be certain that you'll be seeing a lot more from our very first cover boy...Nick Magliato, especially since Ford Models  signed him after seeing him on this site!

And Don't Forget, if you like what you see, please subscribe to Bel Volto and follow us for all the latest photo stories, news and events.
